Rome: Living My Lizzie McGuire Dreams (Vespa & All!) 🇮🇹
If you didn’t grow up wanting to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain while a handsome Italian pop star mistook you for an international celebrity… did you even grow up in the 2000s? Going to Rome has been at the top of my bucket list ever since The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and I finally got my “Hey Now” moment!
The Red Vespa & Bear Ears
To truly see Rome, you have to do it like a local (but with a lot more flair). We rented a bright red Vespa and spent the trip zipping through traffic. The highlight? We wore cute little bear ears on our helmets. Did we get some stares? Yes. Was it worth it for the aesthetic? Absolutely.
Pizza, Pasta, and Way Too Many Lattes
Our itinerary was basically: Eat. Drive. Repeat. We fueled up on:
Pizza & Pasta: Carbs don’t count when you’re in Italy, right?
Lattes: We stopped for “one more coffee” about six times a day.
Gelato: We basically had a cone in our hands at all times. It’s a food group in Rome.
Wishes at the Trevi & The Vatican
Of course, we had to stop at the Trevi Fountain. I tossed in my coin and made my wish (mostly wishing I could stay in Italy forever). It was just as magical as the movie!
We also spent a beautiful afternoon at The Vatican. It is absolutely breathtaking, though we realized too late that we didn’t budget enough time for the art galleries! We’ll be back for the Sistine Chapel next time—this trip was more about soaking in the vibes.
The Colosseum Photoshoot
And of course, no trip is complete without a photoshoot. I made my husband play “Instagram Husband” of the year at the Colosseum. He took approximately 1,000 photos of me to make sure we got the perfect shot. (Thanks, babe!)
Rome, you were a dream. We came, we saw, we ate our weight in cheese and gelato. 🍦✨
