Egypt: My Husband’s Second Trip (Because I Said So) 🇪🇬

Most people go to Egypt once and call it a day. But because I refused to miss out on my Indiana Jones moment, my husband, Ira, officially became a two-time visitor to the land of the Pharaohs. Yes, he went all the way back just so I could experience Cairo and the Pyramids—now that is true love (or just really good negotiation on my part).

It’s Getting Hot in Here

We visited on a “hot summer day,” which in Egypt translates to: the surface of the sun. Let me tell you, it was hot. We were melting, the sand was melting, I’m pretty sure the Sphinx was sweating.

To Camel or Not to Camel?

When you arrive, you will be swarmed by travel guides offering camel rides. My professional advice? Do it. Is it touristy? Yes. But when it’s 100+ degrees, you do not want to be walking that sand. Plus, sitting on a camel makes you feel 10x more regal while you’re dripping in sweat.

The Pyramid "Trap"

We did the thing everyone tells you to do: we went inside the pyramid. Our recommendation? Don’t. It is incredibly narrow, claustrophobic, and even hotter than the outside (which I didn’t think was possible). After all that climbing, you get to the top and realize… there’s nothing there. Save your quads and your oxygen; stay outside and enjoy the view!

The Real Highlights

If you want the best experience, here is what we actually loved:

  • The Nile River: We highly recommend a boat ride on the Nile. The breeze off the water was a literal lifesaver, and it’s the most peaceful way to see the city.
  • The Photos: Despite the heat, it is a 10/10 location for history and picture taking. The scale of the pyramids is something you just have to see to believe.

Overall, Cairo was an incredible, sweaty, historic blast. Sorry for making you go twice, Ira—but the pictures were worth it! 🐪☀️
